Making a lifesaving $7 million investment, North Shore-LIJ Health System and Yale-New Haven Health have launched SkyHealth, a joint Helicopter Emergency Medical Services Program. The hospital-based air medical program will provide care for patients who need urgent care for major traumas, heart attack, stroke and other life-threatening conditions. To allow quicker and safer landings of medevac helicopters, North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) has built a rooftop helipad at the cost of $6.5 million, to ensure the best possible outcome for the region’s most vulnerable patients. North Shore-LIJ, Yale-New Haven Health Launch New York Area’s First Hospital-Based Medical Helicopter Program

The North Shore-LIJ Health System announced the launch of the New York area’s first hospital-based Helicopter Emergency Medical Service. The program, called SkyHealth, is a partnership with Yale-New Haven Health in Connecticut. Starting this Friday, patients of both health systems who need lifesaving care for major traumas, heart attack, stroke and other life-threatening brain injuries will receive emergency medical care by helicopter and be quickly flown to the most appropriate hospital.  Read More

An agreement has been finalized for Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow, NY to join the North Shore-LIJ Health System.
