Asthma Clinical Research Center

The Beth Thalheim Asthma Center consists of two primary divisions: The Beth Thalheim Center for Asthma Education created to educate patients and physicians about therapy and current research into the causes and treatments of asthma and The Asthma Clinical Research Center, in cooperation with the Nassau-Suffolk Chapter of the American Lung Association, is part of a large network formed to carry out multicenter clinical trials.

Sandra Atlas Bass Cardiology Centers

Located at North Shore University Hospital and LIJ Medical Center, the Sandra Atlas Bass Cardiology Centers are devoted to providing innovative, comprehensive, state-of-the-art patient care for all aspects of heart disease. The philanthropic support of Sandra Atlas Bass has helped create one of the leading cardiac services programs in the country, with both centers having earned a national reputation in cardiology and cardiac surgery.

Cushing Neuroscience Institute

Named in honor of Dr. Harvey Cushing, widely recognized as the father of modern neuroscience, the Cushing Neuroscience Institute brings together the vast resources of the North Shore-LIJ Health System to provide state-of-the-art medical care while contributing to advances in research and education. The Cushing Neuroscience Institute comprise a number of evolving neuroscience institutes and programs across the health system.

Hagedorn Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Center

The multidisciplinary team approach at the Hagedorn Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Center in Great Neck ensures that children affected by these disorders receive new hope for the future. The Hagedorn Center offers treatment, instruction and emotional support to young patients and their families, and all children regardless of age or financial status are welcome.

Katz Institute for Women's Health

Katz Institute for Women's Health (KIWH) strives to improve the health of women across their life spans by defining the standards of excellence in health and wellness services. KIWH is a valuable entranceway for women and their families seeking a path to coordinated, accessible care. Through community outreach, research, leadership development and the integration of North Shore-LIJ's world-class clinical care services, KIWH promotes the continuum of women's health, from education, prevention and early detection to treatment and support services.

Sondra and David Mack Center for Emergency Medical Services

The largest hospital-based ambulance service in the New York metropolitan area and one of the largest in the United States, the Sondra and David Mack Center for Emergency Medical Services (CEMS) in Syosset is dedicated to meeting the community's needs for emergency ambulance and routine transfer services. The CEMS is a leading provider of emergency management training in the region, including a federally designated and funded bioterrorism training program.

The Office of Military and Veterans' Liaison Services

Long Island has a proud tradition of military service. In fact, with 150,000 veterans in Nassau and Suffolk Counties making it the tenth-largest veteran population in the country. They become business and community leaders and they inspire their neighbors with their work ethic and love for their country, but the transition home isn't always easy. The Office of Military and Veterans' Liaison Services ensures returning veterans and their families receive the psychological and emotional care they truly need and deserve.

North Shore-LIJ Cancer Institute

Designed with skylights and an indoor garden, the North Shore-LIJ Cancer Institute in Lake Success is an integral part of North Shore-LIJ's nationally recognized Cancer Institute. The North Shore-LIJ Cancer Institute is a place where patients can benefit from the most advanced treatments delivered by renowned cancer experts within a comfortable, nurturing environment all close to home. The center is soon to undergo a major expansion to ensure that it can continue serving the largest number of cancer patients in the metro area.

Palliative Care Suite

The newly opened Palliative Care Suite at North Shore University Hospital is dedicated to the relief of pain and suffering for patients facing life-limiting illnesses. Featuring private rooms and unlimited around-the-clock visiting hours, its unique atmosphere provides tranquility to patients and their loved ones including a central waterfall that creates a peaceful and calming serenity.

Janet and John Raggio Nephrology Institute

Located in Great Neck, the Janet and John Raggio Nephrology Institute realizes that better education and early detection are the best defenses against chronic kidney disease. In addition to serving as a center of excellence for all aspects of renal clinical care and research, the institute offers a Renal Education Program to provide at-risk patients with a thorough understanding of kidney functions and disease prevention.

Florence and Robert A. Rosen Family Wellness Center

The Florence and Robert A. Rosen Family Wellness Center is dedicated to enhancing the physical and mental well-being of veteran military personnel and their families as well as law enforcement officers and their families living in the New York metropolitan region. The staff of the Rosen Center is specially trained to handle issues unique to this group of men and women, and the center offers a variety of services including workshops, counseling and referrals.

Arthur Smith Institute for Urology

The Arthur Smith Institute for Urology in Lake Success is dedicated to improving the lives of patients by advancing the field of urology. Under the direction of pioneering surgeon Louis R. The Stern Family Center for Rehabilitation

For more than 20 years, The Stern Family Center for Rehabilitation has been addressing the health needs of the aging and short-term rehabilitation populations. In recent years, the Stern Center has extended its services to a younger population, specializing in short term rehabilitation for orthopedic, cardiac, neurological and complex medical patients. It is though the generosity of philanthropic benefactors, corporate partners, foundations, friends and former patients that we are able to provide the highest standards of medical excellence that allows the majority of the Stern Center’s residents to continue their recovery at home.
